Mini Summer Haul!

As I am off on holiday with my friends in 2 weeks today (woohoo) I realised I need to get my shop on as I still have quite a few things to get before I go. So I went into town today and got a few things which all I'm very happy with, so I thought I'd share them with you :)

- Vest top from Topshop. I needed a couple of vest tops to take away with me for the day times and possibly for when we go out in the evening. And Topshop had a 2 for £10 offer on so I picked up a Bright Pink one and a Plain White one
-Aviator Style Sunglasses from Topshop. You can't see them that well in this photo but they are basically your average gold aviator style sunglasses. I didn't want to take any expensive sunglasses with me as we're going to Zante, so you never know whats gonna happen. So I got these for a bargin of £10
-Denim High Waisted Shorts from Topshop. I saw these on the website last night and was going to order them but had a look whilst in town today and they were there, horrah! These are just your bog standard denim high waisted shorts. Again I wanted these for more the evening that the day time, so I can wear a crop top without bearing my whole belly. My summer bod still isnt quite there yet haha. These were £32
- Piz Buin 1 Day Long Suncream from Superdrug. I was recommended these and saw that they were half price in superdrug today. I got them in Factor 30 and Factor 15.  These were quite pricey at £9.89 each, and that was half price! Whether I'd pay full price ( of £19.99!!) I'm not sure, but I'll try them out and see what I think. Also these smell incredible! You know the suncream smell that just reminds you of summer, well this smells even better than that!

Thanks for reading as always. Please comment with feedback/suggestions/your blog whatever. If you like my posts and my writing I'd love it if you followed me :)
Thanks, Jess :)

Review: Rimmel London, Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick

So today I brought my first Rimmel Lipstick!! I know, its crazy. But to be honest I've never been much of a lipstick person, but I've wanted to buy one for a while. So today I had a bit of time to burn as I'm not on my summer holiday (finally woohoo) so I went into my local superdrug and picked this up. I also got my first MUA product, will possibly do a review on that soon. But I chose shade '16 Rossetto' as I liked the coral pink colour it was.

It was really creamy when I applied it, however the colour was not what I expected. It came out on my lips as a very barbie pink, although it looks a lot more subtle in the photo, after about 10 minutes it faded into a much nicer shade. For me I wouldn't wear this in the day time, only in the evening - and as its quite bright I would keep the rest of my makeup quite simple and make the lips the main focus point. Overall I was very happy with my first Rimmel Lipstick purchase, and will be returning there before my holidays (so soon!!!) to get myself 1 or maybe 2 more colours as I really would love to get more into lipsticks :)

As always, thank you so much for reading, and please leave feedback/requests/comments or whatever. And of course if you like my blog please follow I'd appreciate it so much, I feel like I'm not getting anywhere with this at the moment, but I really enjoy writing about things I like. And as I want to be a journalist and study journalism at Uni, I really love writing on here. So please support me or whatever, how ever sad it sounds. Also sorry about my mini rant there haha
Thanks, Jess :)

Book Review: Matched by Ally Condie

I recently finished the book Matched by Ally Condie, and lets just say - I'm quite happy to see the end of it. I love books, and if I enjoy a book, I can finish it within a week usually. It took me about 6 weeks to finish this book. 6 weeks! An image of the back of the book is shown below  I didn't feel anything towards the characters, and I wasn't a fan of the story line. The book is based around a love triangle which takes place in an extremely strict society, where they control who you marry, how many children you have, when you die. When you eat, how much you eat, where you go, the times our allowed out of the house, I could go on. But I started to get annoyed with the main character Cassia, just because I felt she was moaning and kept creating problems bla bla blah. This book has had a huge amount of hype around it, so I was really expecting to love this book - but I was sadly disappointing. I'm not saying don't read it because some people will love it - it just really wasn't for me.

Please let me know if you like book reviews, or any other blog posts you want me to do. Comment with feedback, and I'd love it if you followed me, and I'd love to return the favor.
Thanks, Jess :)

June Favourites

For me June has been a really busy month, and has literally flown by, so I thought I'd share some of my favourites from this month with you. I have a 2 non-beauty things in this picture which could be considered as 'experiences' (cringe) but were both a-mazing. So I guess I'll just start talking about them.

- Clean and Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion: I really got back into this cleanser in June, as I neglected it slightly in May due to a new purchase. I used to use this only in the evening to get my make-up off but I've started using it both morning and evening as I feel it really works. I really likes that my skin feels kind of tingly after using it and you can really feel all of the dirt being wiped off of your skin.

-Garnier Pure Active Spot-on Roll-on: I can't express my love for this product. I discovered it around 4 years ago, but was sure they discontinued it and could never find another, however at the end of May I found one in a Superdrug and brought it without even thinking about it. It dries out my spots until there gone within a few days, which I love- as unfortunately I do still get quite a few blemishes from time to time.

- Maybebelline Dream LUMI touch highlighting concealer: I started using this again after my benefit concealer ran out, but I've really grown to love it. Its amazing at concealing under the eyes, but as its a highlighting concealer I also like to use it to highlight my cheeks which I think gives a really nice natural finish.

-Rimmel London Natural Bronzer (Shade 022 Sun Bronze): This was a new purchase in June and I love using it to contour my face. It looks quite dark but comes off really nicely on the skin, although you do have to be careful not to put too much on - or you look slightly clownish.

-Body Shop Body Butter Passion Fruit: I've always been a massive fan of Body shop Body Butters, but when I saw they had brought back my favourite one Passion Fruit I was so happy (it was in the sale too) It honestly just smells amazing.

- The Making of Harry Potter: If anyone else has a love for Harry Potter like I do, you'll understand why I was struggling not to hyperventilate. It was honestly incredible to see all of the sets, and to know thats actually where the actors stood. oh my god. The most amazing bit was the 30ft Model of Hogwarts though, it honestly just took my breath away.

- Coldplay!!!!!!: Coldplay are my favourite band, and I went to see them on the 1st of June. Me and my 2 friends I went with sprinted to get to the front and we were in the second row. No joke, it was the best night of my life. Even people that don't like them would have gone and had a good time. I would pay double what I payed to see them again. Best. Night. Ever

Thanks for reading, and as always please comment any tips or feedback you have for me as I am very new to this blogging melarky. If you like my post I'd love it if you followed me :)
Thanks, Jess :)

Favourite Summer Nail Varnish's

What you need to know about me is that I love nail varnish's. So I thought I'd show you my 5 favourite. I love going out and buying a new nail varnish, as weird as it is, I find it so exciting. However I don't own any high end nail varnish's as I find they are just too expensive and I don't always have the money, the most expensive nail varnish I own is probably about £6, I'm a cheap skate what can I say?
Here are all of the colours together, as you can tell I only have 2 different brands here, Rimmel and Topshop, but they are my 2 favourite brands. You may also be able to tell that I only really have 2 kinds of colours here, coral/pinks and 1 green, but they are my favourite colours.

My first colour is from the Rimmel London 60 seconds range and is in the colour '415 instyle coral.' I really like this colour as wear it a lot, and is probably my most worn colour out of the 5. I wouldn't say it dry's in 60 seconds, but it goes to that stage where its dry but if your not careful will smude EVERYWHERE. But still thats pretty good in my opinion for 60 seconds.

My seconds colour is from Topshop and is called 'Peaches and Cream 102' This is my least worn colour out of the 5, I love the colour but it doesn't go onto the nails as well as I would like, especially compared to the other Topshop nail varnishs. What I have done a few times before is use this colour as an accent colour as for the summer I prefer to have brighter colours, but never the less - still love this.

This is my favourite colour!!!! Its by Topshop and is called 'Art School 201' I just love it so much. It may look very similar to the Rimmel London one at the start, but it has a slightly more orange tone when applied, and I can't explain my love for it

This is my final Topshop nail varnish and is called 'Peeping Tom 102.' Love the name, where do Topshop come up with these ideas? I use this colour mainly for my toes in the summer, as I'm not a massive bright pink girl, but on my toes it looks great! Its a very bright pink, just as it looks like in the picture. I really like the way it applies onto the nails, and you need 2 coats max to make it look good.

My final favourite Nail varnish is from the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Range and is in the colour '045 Misty Jade' My 2 colour obsessions have been coral and mint green, even in my clothes, so I loved this as soon as I saw it. Its a really nice wearable green which I like because its not too crazy and in your face. It comes out really nicely on the nails and only needs two coats, behind art school this is my 2nd favourite :)

Thanks for reading my post, as this is my first real post on my blog. Hope you liked it, if you have an tips of anything I'd really appreciate it in the comments, and if you wanted to follow me that would be amazing too. Also follow me on twitter or whatever, if you want to anyways :)
Thanks, Jess :)

Monday 2 July 2012

so, i started a blog

My name is Jess, and I'm 16 (nearly 17) and live in the UK. The idea of making a blog first came from an idea to improve my UCAS application, stupid I know. But I thought I'd give it a go, and write about things I love. I have an obsession with beauty gurus on YouTube, and love Beauty Blogs as well, I don't want my blog to be based around beauty though, as I'd like to be able to include all of my other interests as well. Who knows if this will work out, guess we'll see. But if you followed me I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks, Jess :)

Thought I'd put in a cute picture of my pup, Molly. Sure She'd like it if you followed me to ;)

Also I'd really appreciate it if you guys bare with me whilst I get to grip with this, I'd like to say that I will be persistent with it, so please give me your feedback on what you think.
